SPF 50+ Mineral Sunscreen.
Provides increased safety after peels and other procedures or therapies that tend to make skin photo-sensitive. Also ideal if you are sensitive to chemical (organic) sunscreens.

What is the ingredient in your sunscreens that cause them to protect against inside light? I never see that stated on other sunscreen packaging. I use all mineral sunscreens because of sensitivity to chemical ones. I have lupus so am very interested on this topic as I am photosensitive and inside UV light is one of my triggers. I would appreciate any information you can give me on this topic.

Thank you for contacting VMV HYPOALLERGENICS® and for giving us the chance to help…and we’re so sorry for the late response!
Visible light from indoor lights such as fluorescents (even compact fluorescent bulbs) and halogens; as well as UVA from windows (which block only UVB, not UVA) and even Infrared heat from ovens, hairdryers, saunas, hot baths and stoves (not just UV, which you mentioned is a trigger for your photosensitivity) are known to elicit photosensitive reactions.
The good news is it is the inorganic (physical or mineral) sunscreens that show the best protection from these lights and rays. Due to your sensitivity to organic (chemical) sunscreens, you seem to already be getting good protection from indoor sources and a wider range of light and rays than most. Our sun and light screens are tested specifically for protection against these light sources (we are currently unaware of other sunscreens, including those with mineral actives, tested specifically for visible and infrared light protection, and against indoor light sources).
Our Armada Sun and Light Screens that are most indicated for indoor light protection for polymorphic light eruption, lupus, rosacea and other highly photosensitive skin conditions contain both inorganic and organic sunscreens OR, as in the case of Armada Post-Procedure Barrier Cream 50+ and Armada Baby 50+, only titanium dioxide and zinc oxide (these latter two products are also quite thick on purpose as they serve the additional function of being a physical barrier against contaminants…in addition to better light protection, this can help prevent sensitivities from airborne or contact contaminants).
For very photosensitive conditions, we normally recommend Armada Post-Procedure daily, and reapplied if needed. We also normally suggest Skintangible (a very light, BB Cream-type non-foundation) on top because of its added minerals and pigment (it can also counteract the thickness of the sunscreen and give skin a lovely glow).
To rule out photosensitivity due to photo-allergens such as fragrances, dyes and preservatives, we also normally suggest many of our other products. Or, more accurately, a 7-Day “Skin Fast” to get skin back to as non-irritated a state as possible, and then a slow introduction of our products to keep skin in a very controlled state. We can send samples for all of these, as well as a regimen to continue with after. If you have had a patch test, we can further customise recommendations based on your results. A photo-patch test would be even more beneficial to accurately identify the particular ingredients that trigger or promote your photosensitivity.
If there are other factors to consider, such as the characteristic “butterfly” rash on the mid face, and/or rashes on the neck, upper chest, and outer arms — all typical from photosensitivity, we would focus on protection and safety in everything from hair and body care, in addition to sun and light protection. If there are other lesions or concerns that are not particularly photosensitive lesions but sensitive, scarred, or inflamed, we can further fine-tune recommendations to focus on scar reduction, barrier strengthening or anti-inflammation.
