First: the what…
What is Strobing?
Strobing is highlighting, the opposite of contouring. It creates the dew-glow-radiance of healthy-looking skin. Like contouring, strobing can sculpt the face, too — but, instead of shadowing (which takes lots more time and skill), by making certain features brighter.
When to..
CONTOUR OR STROBE?
Contour when you want to achieve a perfectly sculpted look. Strobing is best when you have limited time or if your face shape already has a natural sculpt. Both at the same time work well as long as you highlight only one technique at a time.
Step 1…
MOISTURIZE & PROTECT
Moisturize your skin and apply sunscreen before proceeding with the makeup application. This will immediately give your skin a natural glow (and it’s good for you!) I used SuperSkin Care Hydra Balance Smart Moisturizer For Combination Skin and Armada Sport 50+.
Step 2…
BB & CONCEALER
Apply Skintangible “BBBB (BB But Better) Cream” as your base. You will immediately notice an instant glow right after application.
Step 2…
BB & CONCEALER
Apply Skin-The-Bluff Concealer on dark areas e.g. under the eyes and on the sides of the nose and lips. Blend it out.
Take Skin Bloom Blush in Luminous and start highlighting the high points of your face.
Step 3…
HIGHLIGHT
The good thing about Luminous is that you only need a minimal amount to get a perfect glow. If you think you overdid it, just brush over a little face powder.
Step 4…
BROWS & EYES
Use (H)eyebrow for brows and eyelining.
Step 4…
BROWS & EYES
To emphasize the strobing, keep eyeshadow fresh and minimal: try Two True Hues in Berries and Cream or Tarte-à-Tan Bronzer. Finish with Ooh-La-Lash! Mascara and a dot of Luminous on the inner corner of the eyes.
Step 5…
CHEEKS
I used Skin Bloom Blush in Smauve for cheeks, but not so much to go against the strobing effect. The nice thing about this blush is it’s buildable…you can go from subtle to richly pigmented easily.
Step 6…
LIPS
Choose your favorite lipstick color. Here, I chose Subtle Shine Lipstick in Giddy, just to give a nice pop of color to my lips. I also dabbed a small amount of the Luminous highlighter on the middle of my lips to finish shaping and strobing.
