S.M.A.R.T Skin Goals

Skin-specific. Measurable. Actionable. Realistic. Time-Bound.

Skin-Specific: make sure your goals take into account your particular skin’s behavior, history, and current state.

Measurable: keep a journal and work closely with your dermatologist and your VMV Vx Aesthetician, Nurse or Facialist or to make sure your progress is monitored properly in your file.

Actionable: a genetic tendency to hyperpigment may be out of your control but lessening your light exposure is something you can control. Your goals should be things you can act on.

Realistic: unless you already look like Gisele Bündchen, you probably shouldn’t put “look like Gisele Bündchen” as a goal. Have a heart-to-heart with your dermatologist and our Skin-Specialists to learn what’s possible and what’s unlikely. Set yourself up for success, not disappointment.

Time-Bound: depending on your particular concerns, with consistent, proper therapy and prevention, you should be able to see improvements almost immediately to within a few weeks, and more dramatic results in 6-8 months.

Once your goals are set, it’s time to plot your course of action. Answer the questions—about your concerns, current and past problems, things that you might be doing (or eating or using) that could be impacting your skin’s condition, and a brief skin and medical history—in the Skinvestment Plan form on page 10 in detail. Bring your completed form to a VMV Skin-Specialist Boutique or counter where we can provide you with a step-by-step, take-home regimen that covers all the bases.
